Last week started dreadful. Ozzy got sick, high fever + rashes. Fortunately for him it was not measles and now he’s perfectly fine. BUT those 3 days were so tiring for me. Little boy was extra clingy and would not eat. He lost 1.5kgs in 3 days.
The end of the week proved to be better for us. Josh finally got the documents he was waiting for from Norway to be submitted to the Consul for his VISA Application. Now, all we have to do is wait. Wait for his application to be approved..or (gasp!) denied.
*TODAY 6/20/2008* is officially his 1st day without work. So, we are +hoping+ his VISA will be approved. Please keep you fingers crossed people.
Updates on the little boy:
- He can now say his full first name “josh (pause) wah” (Joshua) & not just Ow-wah.
- Prefers ice cubes ti ice cream.
- He bites his nails. (ask!) I cut it short but he keeps on trying! I notice he bites it when he is bored.
- His bath time is crazy, sometimes he loves it sometimes I have difficulty in persuading him to take a bath!! Weird.
- He naps once a day instead of twice, sometimes in the morning, sometimes in the afternoon. (gotta establish a new schedule for this, I think it’s better he sleep in the afternoons,right?)
- Loves to imitate what we are saying. When we watch Wheel of Fortune he shouts the letters whenever contestants say them.
Generally, his vocabulary is fast expanding & getting better. We can easily understand what he wants & what he doesn’t want. At least with this we can lessen his tantrums because he is understood. Although…he is a bit stubborn and would insist on his way thus resulting to a few “crying” and a bit of shouting.
That’s it for last weeks highlights. I seem to have lost mojo in blogging..I think it’s because I don’t have tasks. Teehee. Hoping for more tasks next week.
I read in Milet’s blog that she prefers calling the stage “Talented Two” for terrible just sounds wrong. I agree if we keep on calling our child terrible or bad he will grow up living up to THAT name. So let’s not start them off with the wrong notion.
When my 23 month old son acts up, I always reprimand him with a calm but firm voice. When this fails I resort to glaring and high-pitched shrills. When THIS fails, I let him be. He would lie on the floor crying his lungs out calling out my name. Then after he’d realize I won’t pick him up then he’d come crawling to me.
These things worries me though; can I still call him ‘talented’ when he’s being ‘terrible’?

Oohhh did you notice? It’s Friday the 13th. I read in Jammy’s Blog that in some counties today is considered to be unlucky. I, for one is not superstitious whatsoever. Luck better be at our side. Hmpf.
See, Josh received the documents he was waiting for from Norway yesterday & today he will be applying for his VISA, so luck better be at his side today.
Ozzy on the other hand is lucky since his fever has not returned anymore. BUT rashes are sprouting all over his little body. I think its Rubella commonly called German Measles. We are going to the doctor by 10am. Luck better be at Ozzy’s side as well, I don’t want him to suffer any more. He keeps on saying “mommy yayay”. Poor baby.
Also, lucky for me I found Leptovox for my sister who is trying to lose weight. Friday the 13th unlucky? Maybe not.
Being a mom is not almost always fun. I have mentioned in my blogs numerous times reasons why I love being a mom; but honestly to be blunt about it there are some things I really dislike (hate is such a strong word) about it.
I don’t like…..
- ……….the fact that I don’t get to sleep for 8 hours straight.
- ……….feeling guilty every time I am away. ME-time sometimes isn’t fun when you’re mind is not there.
- ……….having to clean poop.
- ……….how Ozzy decides to poop seconds after I changed him into a clean nappy.
- ……….HAVING stretch marks. Goodbye stretch-mark free tummy…for this reason alone; I ask God why MEN are not the once experiencing child birth?! teehee
- ……….that whenever we are in a restaurant I cannot eat properly. (I almost always never bring yaya around; I want to be hands on as much as possible)
- ……….being bitten & sometimes hit. (uh-huh he hits now..tsktsk, kainis!)
- ……….when people assume I know everything just because I am a mom; I am human I make mistakes too. Spare me the, “Dapat alam mo na yon” speech. I am a first-timer, give me a break.
- ……….scolding my 2 year old boy every time he picks up something on the floor & puts it in his mouth.
- ……….Or scolding in general. Or loosing my patience. Or having to glare at the boy for being noisy in church. Or when he bites his nails. It’s not that I ‘hate‘ it but I just don’t enjoy being a disciplinarian. I want to be the spoiler. But I know that would not be a good thing in the long run.
Now you may think I am bad or what it doesn’t matter; this post doesn’t mean I love my son less or I am a terrible mother (although at times I feel I am inadequate), I am merely pointing out things that make parenting hard. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it right?
Squeezing in a little post while the boy is sleeping.
Thank God Ozzy is fine now. His fever was gone yesterday morning and returned after lunch; we would have brought him to the doctor except his pedia was out already and we were advised to come back today, at 10 AM. I was told by a family friend doctor that Ozzy looks fine and we don’t need to be worried. But for extra precaution its best we run some tests for dengue today.
Right now he is running a slight fever and is resting. He would not let me go. He would only want me to carry/hold/feed him.
It broke my heart last night when I was doing his sponge bath and he said, Mommy Yayay patting his head. I knew he was having a headache because his head was the hottest part of his body. He kept on repeating ‘Mommy Yayay’ which made everything harder to bear. He doesn’t eat. He doesn’t like to drink his meds and he doesn’t like when we do a sponge bath.
Thank God for suppositories; as last resort we had to use the suppository. Now he’s fine. Na-subawan siguro. Too much fun under the sun. Hehe. It’s funny how even if he was sick, he would still gamely count to 10 and recite the ABC’s with me. I was reading to him so he can rest and he would follow my lead. Some letter’s like H, K, Q, and W he could not really say yet.
He can also say beach, goat, boat, dog, beat, feet and many more. He would really try to talk now unlike before where he would stare at you! I am so proud. He is trying to be strong.
He is STILL afraid of the beach though, specifically the sand. But pool time was okay, he enjoyed it surprisingly. Pictures here and stories tomorrow. Will bloghop as soon as I have time. Office work is piling up because of Monday’s holiday and my absence yesterday & today!
Happy Wednesday everyone!
+++MORE Updates+++
Got back from the doctor..everything seems fine naman daw; its not dengue his platelet count is normal. Viral lang daw. So he’s taking paracetamol and some protein builders because he lost weight. But other than that, the doctor said its nothing to worry about! Whew! Thank you all for the well wishes! Muah
Words parents never like saying. Words I never like saying; but its true, Ozzy has fever. Yesterday evening his temperature was 38 C, earlier it was 39, just now I took his temperature again while he is sleeping it read 39.4C. Ghad, I want to cry. Tomorrow if his temperature remains in the high 38C we would have to take him to the doctor. Shudder.
I hate hospitals. I hate having to bring my son there, but of course it would be for his own good. We had fun at the resort, personally I know we did not overdo it. We were not in the sun for a long time; I don’t know really what’s wrong yet. But I am worried.

***Just got back from the beach! Ozzy had a blast in the pool BUT he was still afraid of the beach particularly the sand in the beach. He had fun looking at the boats though. Right now he is fast asleep in our room. I realized without proper exterior shutters or blinds our room is super bright in the afternoon. Poor boy, no wonder he has trouble sleeping in the afternoons. Will have to get one for our little boy.
Pictures and Story to follow. Have a great Sunday everyone!

Last Saturday, while taking our evening bath, Joshua fell on the rock hard cement floor. It was completely MY fault & I feel so bad about it. I wasn’t able to watch him because I was rinsing my hair. He was just by my side then suddenly he was already falling.
What happened was he tried to get into the pail of water and lost his balance.
There was crying but something else made me freak out. I saw blood coming out from the back of his head.
Every parent’s nightmare. Seeing their child hurt & maybe in danger.
So after freaking out, putting cold compress on his bump, consulting the baby book, and bandaging his wound, Josh & I assessed that the boy is fine. His bump was not blue & black, it was just cut and there was loads (according to me) of blood because there are lots of veins in the scalp.
The boy was fine after a bit of crying, he was not vomiting, his eyelids were not dilated (we checked), and he was perfectly himself.
The whole night, I was monitoring him, I felt so guilty. I felt stupid. I felt reckless. I felt inadequate. Why the heck did God trust me with a baby, I’m so careless. I’m not at all perfect but I try my hardest for Joshua. Oh well, lesson learned. I should have known better, I should keep an eye on him 24/7.
I just can’t help thanking God that nothing serious happened to him.
If I had video footage for every little funny, witty, amazing, sweet thing my son Ozzy has done & said since then I’m sure it would make a full length movie by now.
It still amazes me that this sweet, innocent angel can say stuff like this & this.
A few updates on his ever expanding vocabulary:
- /ow-ter/ - Water.
- /ay-miss/ - Hi, Miss. {chickboy in the making. TskTsk}
- /ah-tee/ - Aunty Jennie {my sister who used bribery & food to teach the boy her name and that’s the best he can come up with}
- /gee-af/ - Giraffe
- /ari/ - Marie {next door yaya}
- /at/ - Cat {i just heard him say this ONCE. All the other time its “meow”}
- /Owa/ - Joshua {himself}
- Sometimes we catch him pointing with his mouth {gosh, so Pinoy!} I didn’t teach him that I think he got it from the help.
- When counting, Wa-too-tee-too-tee-too-tee-en! (1,2,3,2,3,2,3-10!)
A funny conversation that we had 3 nights ago.
Me: Baby, who do you love??
Ozzy: Mommy, Daddy.
Me: Who does Mommy love?
Ozzy: Daddy.
Me: Who does Daddy love?
Ozzy : YAYA!
BWAHAHAHAHAHA! His dad laughed so hard when he heard it.
Woah.
Super tired. We were at the mall whole afternoon and luckily for us little Ozzy was well behaved the whole time. I finally found the gorgeous royal blue dress that I have been wanting ever since I saw Cameron wearing one in the movie ‘What happens in Vegas’.
We had a few errands to run like the groceries (mom is still not here, she’s in Madrid), we had to buy light bulbs, dog supplies, medicines and Josh had to have his passport picture taken.
Later, it’s pizza night with my fabulous friends. I hope the rain would stop. I hate the rain. Pictures later! Happy Sunday guys!
